One afternoon, a man got a call from a friend about a stray cat with a severe paw injury in his neighborhood. The man, an avid cat lover who ran his own rescue organization and shelter, couldn’t ignore his friend’s plea for help. 

He jumped in his car and drove to the street where the injured cat was found. What he found there shook him to the core…

The stray cat’s injury was horrific. His front paw was broken, likely from a hit-and-run accident, and the wound was severely infected. 

The man could barely look at it without feeling sick. He couldn’t believe the cat was still alive, let alone enduring the excruciating pain.

Worried about the cat’s health, he rushed back to his car to get a cat carrier, intending to take the cat to the vet as soon as possible. The cat allowed himself to be placed in it without a struggle as if he knew the man meant no harm.

At the clinic, the vet scheduled an emergency surgery to amputate the cat’s leg. The procedure went well, leaving the kitty a bit drowsy from anesthesia. 

The vet provided some medication to help the wound heal faster and gave the green light for the cat to be discharged. The man decided to take him home, more specifically to his shelter where he cared for other cats in need.

Such a special feline had nothing to do on the streets anymore. The days of him roaming the great outdoors and being mistreated were finally behind him.

At the shelter, the man and his partner set up a comfortable bed for the cat to rest and regain his strength. Once he woke up from anesthesia, they gave him some delicious food to eat and water to drink.

After that, they let inside other shelter residents who were all eager to meet their new friend. Still a bit weak, the cat just lay in his bed, observing other felines, while all of them approached to say, “Hello!”

Over the next few weeks, the cat’s condition improved. His wound healed, his beautiful white fur grew back, and he even gained a little weight.

He finally looked like any other kitty! Apart from missing his front leg, he was a happy cat who left his troublesome past behind, embracing the future that was ahead of him.

Eventually, the man decided to adopt the cat, giving him a permanent home. He upgraded his shelter bed for a warm bed inside his house and took him to regular vet check-ups to ensure he stayed healthy.

Despite some bad memories from his first vet visit, the cat endured everything like the brave cat he was from the first day the man met him!

Today, this beautiful white cat is playful and affectionate, with only three legs, but it doesn’t stop him from being the silliest little explorer. 

The man is thrilled he got a second chance at life and hopes others follow his lead to help animals in need. 

All I can say is I wish there were more people like him – and far fewer who would hit-and-run when they strike an animal on the road.
