Family Gifted With Return Of Missing Cat Three Years Later In “Christmas Miracle”

Cat mom Jessica Kelly received an early Christmas present this year, and it’s one that seemed an impossible gift to receive. This year, Jessica and her sweet cat Jasmine reunited after three years apart. And it’s all thanks to a microchip and the diligent efforts of Connecticut Cat Connection.

Jasmine and Jessica’s road to reunion started first with a separation that devasted the cat mom. Three years ago, Jasmine escaped from her Bristol home. Jessica searched the area again and again but never found five-year-old Jasmine. When she had to move out of the area six months later, she started losing hope of ever snuggling her kitty buddy again. But now, they’re together once more in time to make merry this Christmas season.

Saved by Kindness

A few weeks ago, the Connecticut Cat Connection got a message about a cat hanging around a Bristol apartment building. Unbeknownst to anyone, the cat was Jasmine, and the building she was hanging out around was Jessica’s former residence. But the poor cat wasn’t well. She had a respiratory infection, overgrown nails, and matted fur. Plus, she was too skinny.

CT Cat Connection shared on Facebook, “They were concerned the cat had some matting and wasn’t in good shape.”

The kind cat lovers had taken the kitty to the vet for treatment and vaccines. And, while there, the vet scanned her for a microchip and found one but couldn’t track it. The cat lovers then brought Jasmine to the rescue for help locating the missing owner.

Beth, a volunteer with Cat Connection, told NBC Connecticut, “They just really were concerned about this cat.”

So, the director went to work, contacting the microchip company with hopes of finding Jasmine’s family. The hope became reality in the shape of a phone number, and the rescue quickly reached out to Jessica, leaving her a message.

As Beth explained, “Jessica called right back, and I said, ‘We’ve had a cat. We had a cat surrender to us, and the microchip was connected to you,’ and her immediate response was ‘Jasmine? Really?’”

A Christmas Miracle

The surprised cat mom and her son Giovanni hurried to Cat Connection from their Meriden home, reuniting with Jasmine in an emotional moment.

“I broke down in tears because I lost hope,” Jessica shared. “But I was very happy.”

“She looked a lot different with all the fur, and she’s now eleven years old,” Giovanni said.

Jasmine is now home and recovering in the arms of loved ones for a triumphant holiday season, thanks to microchip magic and dedicated cat rescuers.

“We said it’s pretty much like a Christmas miracle,” said Jessica.

“It’s impossible to know what Jasmine has been through, but better days are surely ahead,” said CT Cat Connection. “This remarkable story is truly heart warming and we all are wishing Jasmine a happy life!”

Welcome home, sweet kitty!
