Do You Know The Name Of The White House’s First Cat?
The White House isn’t just a residence for the President of the United States and his family; it’s also home to their furry companions.
First, President Joe Biden welcomed a German Shepherd puppy into the White House and named him Commander.
But, soon after that, Commander got a furry companion in the form of a 2-year-old gray tabby feline named Willow.
Willow’s life took a delightful turn when she crossed paths with the First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden.
Their meeting happened during a campaign speech at the farm where Willow used to reside. Willow jumped right onto the stage, and the rest is history…
When Jill Biden and Willow first met, it was love at first sight, and everyone around them noticed their instant bond.
Willow, a former farm cat, became part of the Biden family in 2021 through an adoption campaign, officially becoming the White House’s First Cat. She was named after Jill Biden’s hometown, Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.
Although Willow was adopted in 2021, she didn’t move into the White House until 2022. This delay was due to some behavioral issues with the Biden family’s German Shepherd dog, Major.
To ensure Willow could enjoy a peaceful life as she deserved, Major was sent to live with the Biden family’s friends in Delaware.
Willow brings so much happiness and joy to her family, including people worldwide. Perhaps it’s because she is the first cat to live in the White House since India, a cat owned by former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush.
All in all, there’s no doubt that Willow is living her best life in the White House. She may be the United States presidential pet, but at heart, Willow is just like any other cat.
She relishes the simple pleasures of lounging in the sun or gazing out of windows, which, as we all know, are some of our feline friends’ favorite pastimes, right?
