This Two-Faced Cat Becomes A Father To Kittens Sporting His Own Colors
We can all agree that every cat is beautiful in its own unique way. While certain breeds might not be your cup of tea, there’s no denying the undeniable charm of our feline friends.
With that being said, brace yourself to meet one of the most stunning cats in the world today. His name is Narnia, he is a six-year-old kitty with a split-colored face, and he is the father of two adorable kittens who each bear one of his distinctive colors.
Narnia is a British Shorthair feline who was born at the Chatterie de la Grâce cattery. He was part of the Celestia Project whose aim was to breed more British Shorthairs with piercing blue eyes, a very rare but desirable feline trait.
But here’s the kicker: Narnia’s striking blue eyes weren’t the only feature that made everyone swoon. It was his perfectly split facial pattern that made him stand out in the crowd.
As you can tell, his face is precisely divided into a gray and a black side; the rest of his body is black, except for a little spot under his chin and two back paws which were all white.
Stephanie Jiminez, Narnia’s mom, and owner of the abovementioned cattery, knew she had something extraordinary when she laid eyes on him. She said:
“When Narnia was born I was extremely surprised. I knew immediately that he was exceptional.”
She promptly created his own Instagram account to share his unique beauty with the rest of the world.
It didn’t take long for his popularity to skyrocket. Many people have fallen head over heels for Narnia and expressed their desire to become parents of their very own two-faced kitty!
This inspired Stephanie to investigate whether his unique feature was hereditary. She found him a lovely partner – a beautiful feline named Bella with an almost perfectly divided face of her own.
Given the stunning appearance of these pawrents, it’s only natural to assume their kittens would be equally gorgeous.
However, while no one could deny that good looks run in the family, the offspring unfortunately weren’t blessed with Narnia’s unique features.
Instead, the siblings, named Phoenix and Prada, each sported one of their father’s distinctive colors: Phoenix was an all-gray kitten while Prada was a black one with a white speck on her face.
The adorable couple became parents several times, consistently producing kittens in solid colors. Their kittens either had black, gray, white, or light brown fur, but none of them had a split face.
Some of them, like Chamallow and Twilight, inherited their father’s striking blue eyes, but not Phoenix and Prada.
This only proves that Narnia is undoubtedly a one-of-a-kind feline!
The Science Behind Narnia’s Unique Feature
At first glance, Narnia’s striking appearance and the perfectly straight line on his face led everyone to believe he was a rare chimera cat.
This term is typically used for cats who are born with a unique genetic quirk. The cells of these felines have two types of DNA, meaning they are made out of two intertwined embryos.
To put it plainly, their cells are a product of two non-identical twins that fused together into one in the early stages of pregnancy.
Even though everything pointed to this scientific belief, Narnia isn’t a chimera cat. His owner Stephanie revealed that the genetic testing Narnia has undergone proved that he has only one set of DNA.
This means that Narnia’s remarkable appearance remains shrouded in mystery.
If you are as mesmerized by this feline as I am, feel free to check out his Instagram profile. Let him inspire you to embrace your uniqueness!
