One day a woman was walking her dogs when she noticed an odd object at the base of a ditch.

She saw there was a ginger cat confined inside what seemed to be a pet carrier when she got closer.

Her timing was perfect because the cat was not likely to have survived the night due to an impending snowstorm.

Can you believe this poor cat was abandoned without food or water, and the container didn’t even have a cover to protect it from the impending cold?

The woman took the container to the closest animal shelter, Wolcott Dog Pound, since she couldn’t believe anybody could be so cruel to their pet.

They were delighted to take in this gorgeous ginger kitten, and they posted the tragic tale on social media right away to see if someone would come forward with details of how the cat had originally arrived there.

It is cruel and terrible to leave a pet to fend for itself.
