He hears a kitten’s cries for help as he was working in the rail yard, but after searching in the dark, he was unable to find anything.

Chris Small, a carman, was working at Louisville, Kentucky’s railway yards on October 30 when he heard a kitten calling for rescue from amid the parked cars.

When hunting in the dark for the frantic meows after it had just stopped raining, he wasn’t having much success.

“I couldn’t see much since it was dark and it had just stopped pouring. As I was examining the automobiles, I started to glance about,” stated Chris.

He could hear the kitten’s cries again as he drew nearer to one of the tank cars. They were much louder this time.

She appeared to be sobbing inside the vehicle?

He said, “I knelt down and saw a little face through a cut in the seal. “I informed my boss that there was a kitten in the tank car and that we needed to put the vehicle in for repair so that we could remove it. No, he said; instead, I should return to my job and leave the cat in its current location because it would climb out on its own.

Chris couldn’t imagine how a cat so little might manage to get out on her own. After all, it is the reason she initially cried out for assistance! How much time had she spent stranded there without access to food or water?

There was no one there to assist the small cat because Animal Control was now closed. Chris vowed to the cat. When his shift was up, he would return for her if she was still in danger and still pleading for assistance.

Chris also maintained his word. When he returned after his shift was up, he found her still locked and continuously pleading for assistance. He quickly returned to the workshop to get a set of garbage tongs.
