With a large personality and an even bigger love for life, “Duck” is a little tabby kitten. The odd-looking kitten had to have her front legs severed in order to preserve her life after suffering a terrible accident. She was discovered with both of her legs irreversibly broken.
Duck lost her front two legs, but she has never lost her zest for life or her drive. Duck is really happy to be in Florida with her foster family who have become her forever family. Nobody knows for sure what actually happened, but according to Love Meow, Duck’s pet-parent has claimed that they believe she got hurt by cuddling up inside a car’s engine compartment.
After being taken to the clinic and going through surgery, she was placed in a foster home to give her time to heal, recover, and get used to her new way of life while receiving droves of love and affection.
Though it was only supposed to be a temporary placement, Duck had soon charmed the entire family and cemented her place as a permanent family member.
Despite her terrible accident and tragic loss of limb, Duck seemed happy and filled with energy and her happiness rubbed off on everyone in the house.
Duck settled into her new life easily and never seemed to lament what may have been. Instead, she overcame each obstacle with positivity and tenacity, and she eventually mastered the use of her tail and rear legs to navigate the house independently.
Duck was given a cat wheelchair by the family, but she was never fond of it. The small cat likes the mobility she has developed by standing on her hind legs and utilizing her tail as a balance device.
As soon as she cracked the code of how to best use her back legs and tail, she began exploring the house and rushing back and forth across the floor.
She’s been able to reach incredible speeds and is now zooming around the house and the yard all day.
Apart from her humans, Duck’s new family also includes another cat, three pups and six hens.
Though you would think that Duck would relate the most to either her fellow kitty sibling or her fellow two-legged avian sisters, she’s actually most drawn to the pups of the family.
Their joy for life, unwavering devotion to their family, and unceasing desire for adventure and fun simply fit Duck’s personality wonderfully.
She enjoys hanging out with them, going places with them, and studying their behavior to pick up new skills. Little Duck is fortunate to have such a large and devoted family, and they are especially fortunate to have such a kind and caring relative who never fails to brighten their day.
Duck may not have had legs, but she has always had her spark.
This kitten is a wonderful inspiration, and we are overjoyed that she has found a family who adores and values her in every way.
