Meet Bea, a former stray turned rescue cat who now thrives at a veterinary hospital. She and her feline friends are affectionately known as ‘The Hospital Cats.’

When Bea first arrived, it was evident she loved the hospital environment, so the staff decided to let her stay. Described as the “most playful,” Bea quickly won over everyone’s hearts. One staff member recalled, “She was just looking for somebody to roughhouse and play with.”

Bea’s charm was undeniable, and her life took an exciting turn when another cat, Peggy, arrived. Bea immediately showed interest in Peggy, “poking her paw” into Peggy’s cage as if to welcome her. Observing Bea’s affection for Peggy, the staff decided to keep Peggy as well. The two cats formed an instant, inseparable bond, with Peggy mirroring Bea’s every move.

“If Bea’s running around, then Peggy will run around. If Bea’s sleeping on the chair, Peggy sleeps on the chair. Bea’s touching the birds, then Peggy comes up and she’s like, ‘Oh, I want to touch the birds too,’” the staff shared.

Their adventures continued when chickens were brought to the hospital. Bea’s curiosity led Peggy to watch the chickens with the same interest. Peggy started to mimic Bea’s gentle attempts to touch the chickens, a behavior Bea exhibited with all animals she encountered.

Bea’s nurturing nature extended to chickens, goats, pigs, and more. The hospital staff ensured that all visiting animals were accustomed to cats and that their owners were comfortable with Bea’s interactions. “I like to think that she understands that, ‘Hey, I’ve been there before,’” one staff member said. “She just sympathizes with them.”

Peggy soon followed in Bea’s footsteps, often seen tenderly interacting with other animals even when Bea was resting. Peggy’s calm and curious demeanor made her a perfect companion for Bea, and the two cats became a morale booster for everyone at the hospital.

The bond between Bea and Peggy is undeniable, and their loving presence has brought joy to the hospital. Now, they enjoy a home where they can constantly meet and show affection to new animals.
