Unveiling the Timeless Elegance: 1960 Chevrolet Impala Nomad Wagon
This 1960 Chevrolet Nomad station wagon is reported to have been originally purchased in Phoenix, Arizona. It carries a history of ownership by a former NFL head coach and a NASCAR executive. The vehicle’s exterior has undergone refinishing in Ermine White, while the interior boasts a turquoise finish.
Powering the car is a 383ci V8 engine, which is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission equipped with overdrive. Notable enhancements comprise an airbag suspension system and a DynoMax dual exhaust setup. The selling dealer presents this Nomad along with partial service records, a set of Billet Specialties wheels and tires, and an unblemished California title.
The body is said to have been refinished in its factory Ermine White, with black insets in the jet-motif rear doors and quarter panel moldings. The paintwork and bright trim are shown in detail in the gallery below.
Steel wheels wear full covers and are mounted with wide-whitewall tires, and an extra set of 18″ and 20″ Billet Specialties wheels and tires are included in the sale. The wagon is equipped with front and rear sway bars, power-assisted steering and front disc brakes, and an airbag suspension system.
The interior is trimmed in turquoise with factory houndstooth fabric on the plastic-covered seats and door panels. A period FrigiKing air conditioning system is mounted under the dash and utilizes modern underhood components and refrigerant.
A retro-style radio has been installed along with auxiliary gauges below the air conditioning unit. The 5-digit odometer shows approximately 32k miles.
The factory 283ci V8 has been replaced with a 383ci stroker crate engine which features a Holley carburetor, an aluminum intake manifold, and a billet serpentine belt drive system.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed TH700R4 automatic transmission. A DynoMax dual exhaust system exits ahead of the rear wheels.
Partial service records, photo and video discs, and air conditioner documentation are included in the sale. A walk-around, driving, and undercar video with commentary from the selling dealer is shown below.
