In October 2013, the current owner’s father acquired this 1955 Chevrolet 3100. Since then, various improvements have been made to the vehicle, including a fresh coat of paint on the exterior, reupholstering the interior, and the replacement of several key components such as the grille, tailgate, fenders, bumpers, exterior lights, and suspension, as well as brake and trim parts. The truck boasts a striking red exterior finish complemented by red and white vinyl upholstery inside. It is powered by a replacement 350ci V8 engine mated to a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt rear axle with 3.42:1 gears.
Additional features of this 3100 pickup include cab clearance lights, an oak-lined bed floor, air conditioning, a Panasonic CD stereo system, power-adjustable bucket seats, power steering, power brakes, and polished 15″ Pacer 164P wheels. Under the hood, you’ll find an HEI-style distributor, tubular exhaust headers, Flowmaster mufflers, and an Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor.
The seller is now offering this well-maintained 3100 pickup on behalf of the owner, complete with comprehensive service records and a clean New Mexico title.
The truck is finished in red and is said to have been repainted under current ownership. Details include a chrome grille and bumpers, cab-mounted clearance lights, an oak-lined bed floor, a left “peep mirror”, electric windshield wipers, aftermarket headlights, and dual side exhaust outlets. The grille, tailgate, fenders, bumpers, exterior lights, door and window seals, and exterior trim components are said to have been replaced under current ownership. There are chips and scratches in the paint on several panels.
Polished 15″ Pacer 164P wheels are mounted with 235/75 BFGoodrich Long Trail T/A tires. The truck has been fitted with power-assisted steering, a dual master cylinder, and front and rear sway bars. Braking is handled by power-assisted finned drums at all four corners. Replacement brake lines and shock absorbers are said to have been installed under current ownership.
The cabin features power-adjustable bucket seats that were reupholstered in red and white vinyl and are joined by color-coordinated door panels. Equipment includes air conditioning, a Hurst shifter linkage, a Panasonic CD stereo, rubber floor mats, and three-point seatbelts. Work under current ownership consisted of installing a 12-volt electrical system, a Painless wiring harness, replacement carpeting, a plastic glove box, door hinges, and interior trim components. The upholstery is loose on the left door panel.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a 100-mph speedometer with inset supplementary gauges. A SunPro tachometer is located on top of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 2,300 miles, approximately 11k of which have been added under current ownership. The instrument cluster was replaced in October 2015, and the total mileage is unknown.
The 350ci V8 was reportedly overhauled before being installed under prior ownership. Equipment includes an Edelbrock intake manifold and carburetor, an HEI-style distributor, a K&N air filter, a clutched cooling fan, billet pulleys, and Hedman tubular exhaust headers. Corrosion is visible on the exhaust headers. An engine tune-up is said to have been performed in 2013 and the thermostat and starter solenoid were replaced in July 2023.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Muncie four-speed manual transmission and a 10-bolt rear axle with 3.42:1 gears. The rear axle was installed under current ownership and the transmission was reportedly overhauled under prior ownership. A dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers has been fitted and a Chevrolet Blazer-style fuel tank has been mounted below the bed.
The manufactured VIN tag reads 0399491F255X which was assigned by the State of Texas. This tag number matches the VIN listed on the New Mexico title. The factory-issued VIN tag is not present.
