“Farewell to the Remarkable Two-Faced Feline: Cancer Takes Guinness World Record Holder at 15”.thi

Frank and Louie, also known as ‘Frankenlouie,’ was rescued from being euthanized by a breeder in September of 1999 and taken to Tuffs University in North Grafton. This unique feline was a Janus cat, named after the Roman god with two faces. Despite being expected to die, Marty Stevens, a vet nurse, decided to take him home. Miraculously, Frank and Louie went on to live for another 15 years. Unfortunately, he was euthanized at Tuffs University on Thursday due to cancer. He made history in 2012 when he broke the Guinness World Record as the oldest surviving Janus cat. Although he had two faces, he only had one life, but it was a remarkable one.

R.I.P.: 'Frankenlouie', the world's oldest Janus cat - a feline with two faces - died at the age of 15 on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014. The Guinness World Record holder passed away at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tuft's University in Grafton, Mass. according to owner Martha

Frankenlouie, the oldest Janus cat in the world, has passed away at the age of 15 on Thursday December 4, 2014. The furry feline, who had two faces, is believed to have died from cancer. Rest in peace, Frankenlouie.

Rare: The Guinness World Record holder passed away at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tuft's University in Grafton, Massachusetts, according to owner Martha 'Marty'Stevens

Uncommon: Marty Stevens, the owner, reported that the world record holder passed away at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine located in Grafton, Massachusetts.

Precious: Marty Stevens is seen here at home with her beloved cat. She called the face on the left Frank, while the face on the right is identified as Louie

Marty Stevens, the owner of a beloved cat named Frank and Louie, shared a picture of her feline friend on social media. Sadly, the veterinarians diagnosed Frank and Louie with cancer and he passed away soon after. The cat was unique as it had two faces, which is known as Janus cats. Most Janus cats are born with defects that make them survive only for a few days. However, Frank and Louie surpassed all expectations and were recognized in the Guinness World Records for being the longest-surviving Janus cat. Stevens, who is a vet nurse, was supposed to euthanize Frank and Louie when a breeder brought him to her. However, she decided to take care of him at home, feeding him through tubes in both mouths. Despite his condition, Frank and Louie had a strong personality and loved to walk around the neighborhood.

Beloved: The Janus cat was set to be euthanized by a breeder in 1999, but Stevens, a vet nurse, decided to bring him home with her

My dear: In 1999, a breeder was planning to put down a Janus cat. However, Stevens, who worked as a veterinary nurse, made the decision to take the feline into her care instead.

Fascinating: Frankenlouie was blind in his center eye, but his outer eyes function as per usual

Isn’t it amazing that Frankenlouie, despite being blind in his center eye, was able to function just like any other cat? It’s fascinating to know that both of his outer eyes worked perfectly fine, and even though he had two noses and mouths, he only had one brain. Unfortunately, Stevens, his owner, is now heartbroken as she lost her beloved pet who has been with her for 15 years. She recalled how he fell ill during Thanksgiving and had to take him to Tuffs University clinic where the vet advised her to put him down because of the pain he was going through. Despite her sadness, Stevens expressed her willingness to look for another Janus, like Frankenlouie, to keep her company again. She said, “I would love to do it again.”
