As I neared the end of my pregnancy, the doctors informed me that my son was not going to survive and that he would arrive earlier than expected. Despite listening to his heartbeat all night long, by morning, my son was born without taking a breath. Upon returning home from the hospital, I walked into his room and saw his empty bassinet, causing me to break down in tears. However, I soon noticed a little white kitten curled up and sleeping in the bassinet. This kitten was one of four born to my cat a few months prior and happened to be deaf. Holding him brought me comfort and ease, allowing me to cry myself to sleep. The next morning, I realized the kitten had licked away my dried tears and had been following me ever since. Through the hardest moment of my life, I found solace and support in this little furry friend, whom I now know as Mikey. For more information, visit mikeyshouse.org.
When I was pregnant, the doctors informed me that my child would arrive prematurely and that he wouldn’t survive. Unfortunately, this turned out to be true, as I gave birth to him shortly afterward in the hospital, but he never managed to take a single breath.
As soon as I walked through the door, my eyes were drawn to the bassinet where my son used to sleep. It was a poignant moment and I couldn’t help shedding a few tears. But then, something caught my eye – a little white kitten peacefully snoozing in the same bassinet.
I’m excited to share that my cat recently gave birth to a litter of four adorable kittens. One of them, the little guy who’s currently snuggled up in the bed, was born deaf. Despite his inability to hear, he’s still just as lovable and precious as his siblings.
As I lay beside him on the bed, tears streamed down my face in a way I had never experienced before. Eventually, exhaustion overtook me and I fell asleep. When I awoke, I noticed the kitten was gently licking away my dried tears.
As soon as I saw him sitting on my computer monitor, I realized that he needed my help. To assist him, I spent long hours investigating his hearing impairment.
Gradually emerging from the shadows, I sensed that Mikey was following my every move, taking a step forward with each one of mine.
When I gaze upon him, he’s not just a mere pet to me, nor can I only categorize him as a feline or an animal. Rather, I perceive his magnificent spirit that willingly became my companion when I was in dire need of one.
My decision to become a photographer was heavily influenced by Mikey’s lovely countenance and his kind-hearted nature.
At present, my little one has hit the age of 12, and he has grown to become an integral part of my identity. Our days are now filled with cheerfulness and amusement.
