A Classic Car for the Ages: The Beautifully Restored 1964 Thunderbird in Bright Yellow

Introducing a Stunning 1964 Ford Thunderbird with a Scrupulous Restoration

The 1960s was an exciting time for the automobile industry with new engineering innovations. Ford was one of the leading brands and introduced innovative design features like space-age styling, sequential taillights, and a convenient “Swing-Away” steering wheel. All of these features were available on Thunderbird.

a bright-yellow 1964 Ford Thunderbird two-door hardtop that has gone through a meticulous restoration and is now up for sale. The private seller in Enterprise, Utah, claims that every part and system of the car has been restored or replaced to new/like-new condition.

With only 79,000 miles on the odometer, the car has had a newer engine installed that has only been driven 50 miles since. The restoration process is supported by receipts totaling over $34,000, further emphasizing the seller’s claim of a “white-glove” restoration approach.

The Ford Thunderbird was launched as a two-seater in 1955 and marketed as a personal luxury car with more focus on comfortable amenities than sporty driving dynamics. The fourth-generation Thunderbird was launched in 1964 with a more formal look.

This beautiful car is powered by a 390cid, 300-horsepower V8 engine paired with a three-speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. The sunny yellow finish is described as an “excellent, high-quality paint job” and the car also features exterior accents like fender skirts, chrome trim, wire wheel covers, and a hood scoop.

One of the most innovative features of the car is the “Swing-Away” steering wheel, which gained a lot of attention for its functionality. When the car is in the park, the steering wheel moves towards the center of the vehicle, allowing for easy entry and exit, and locks in place. The interior of the car is just as impressive with reupholstered gray bucket seats, a center console with chrome trim, a ribbon-style speedometer, and a vinyl-lined trunk.

In conclusion, the 1964 Ford Thunderbird is a striking turnkey example of the fourth-generation T’Bird that is ready to drive and even show off a bit. If you’re a classic American car collector, this is one opportunity you don’t want to miss.
