Rare Collection of 36 Classic Corvettes Found in Underground NYC Garage After 25 Years

A treasure trove of 36 classic Corvettes, including every model from 1953 to 1989, has been discovered in an underground garage in New York City. The cars were won in a contest organized by music channel VH1 and later sold to German graphic artist Peter Max, who had planned to use them in his artwork. However, the collection remained untouched for over 25 years, covered in a thick layer of dust that surprisingly protected the paintwork.

The most valuable car in the collection is the 1953 Corvette, one of only 300 ever produced. The entire collection was eventually purchased by Adam Heller and his family from Peter Max, who had bought it from Dennis Amodeo, the original contest winner. Amodeo sold the collection for $250,000 in cash and $250,000 worth of Max’s artwork, plus a promise of up to $1 million if Max ever decided to sell the collection.

Experts say that some of the cars in the collection will only take two weeks to restore, while others may take over a year. Nevertheless, this rare discovery has ignited the interest of car enthusiasts worldwide, eager to see these classic Corvettes restored to their former glory.
