This 1967 Pontiac Firebird is a 400 coupe that was acquired by the seller in May 2017. A cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment was completed in 2019 and reportedly included a repaint in blue, installing a modified 400ci V8, rebuilding the three-speed automatic transmission, reupholstering the interior, and overhauling the brakes and suspension. Features include a ram-air hood, 17″ US Mags wheels, a limited-slip differential, a custom 3″ exhaust system, and an aftermarket stereo system. This Firebird is now offered with refurbishment records and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Originally finished in Signet Gold with a white vinyl roof, the body was repainted in blue in 2018. Additional work included replacing the trunk pan, refinishing the frame, and installing polyurethane body mounts. The seller states that the front, rear, and driver-side glass was replaced along with the body seals and polished exterior moldings. Features include a chrome front grille surround and rear bumper, ram-air hood, front and rear spoilers, and Firebird 400 badges. Close-up photos of the body panels, brightwork, and lenses can be viewed in the gallery.
Staggered-width 17″ US Mags Bandit wheels wear 235/40 front and 275/40 rear Sumitomo HTR Z tires. Suspension modifications are said to include 2″-drop spindles, lowering springs, and adjustable shocks up front, as well as 1.5″-drop leaf springs and aftermarket shocks out back. Braking is from Wilwood calipers and slotted rotors all four corners, with a Hydro-Boost hydraulic brake booster. Sway bars are fitted front and rear.
The interior was reupholstered in black and features body-color sheet metal, replacement door panels, and vinyl seat covers with blue piping. Amenities include a fold-down rear seat, blue lap belts, a Custom Autosound vintage-look radio, and aftermarket cabin speakers. The windshield wiper motor was relocated and is disconnected.
A Grant steering wheel frames the factory instruments, and auxiliary gauges are mounted under the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 6k miles. True mileage is unknown.
The replacement 400ci V8 was reportedly bored out and rebuilt by Dan’s Machine Shop in Livermore, California, prior to installation. Components are said to include stainless steel valves with knurled guides, RaceTec forged pistons, ARP rod bolts, and a Crower camshaft, as well as an Edelbrock intake manifold, Quick Fuel carburetor, MSD ignition system, and Hooker headers. An Edelbrock air cleaner and valve covers are fitted, as is a Wilwood brake master cylinder.
