Rescuers Arrive To Pick Up A Kitten But His Mother Needed Urgent Care

Fosterers went to an animal shelter to adopt a kitten but knew right away they had to bring his mother along too.

Baymax, the mother cat, and her kitten, Hairy Baby, were brought to the shelter when their previous family could no longer care for them. The shelter staff quickly noticed that Baymax had a serious dental issue causing her a lot of pain.

They reached out to Newborn Kitten Rescue, a group that typically helps orphaned or critical kittens. Their rescuers realized that if Baymax didn’t get the help she needed, Hairy Baby might end up an orphan.

Without a second thought, they decided to take both mother and son, knowing they could treat Baymax’s condition.

As soon as they arrived at their foster home, Baymax settled into her new bed with Hairy Baby snuggled up beside her. As NKR shared in an interview:

“They were both extremely sweet and affectionate, not only when we got them, but throughout their stay.”

Baymax needed a full dental extraction and lots of love and care. Despite her own struggles, she remained a devoted mother, always making sure her kitten was well-fed and perfectly groomed.

Now that she was in a safe foster home, Baymax could finally relax and focus on raising her baby.

She watched proudly as Hairy Baby reached milestone after milestone. He took his first steps soon, and before they knew it, Hairy Baby was climbing to the top of their big cat tree.

Once Hairy was fully weaned, Baymax started spending more time with her foster family. She was finally getting all the attention she had always craved.

It was around this time that they discovered she was completely deaf. This explained her loud meows that echoed through the house whenever she wanted attention or wanted to make her presence known.

In addition to being deaf, Baymax has unique, different-colored eyes: one blue and one yellow.

When Hairy was ready to make new friends and practice his feline skills on his own, he met Polka Dot, a blind kitten. She arrived at the rescue center with severely infected eyes.

Although her eyesight couldn’t be saved, her life was. From the very beginning, Polka Dot was a fighter, purring through every challenge she faced.

She quickly won over the hearts of everyone who met her, including Hairy. The two became best friends, playing and chasing each other around the house until they were exhausted, then falling asleep together.

They became inseparable, following each other everywhere like best buddies. Polka Dot had a special knack for finding Hairy, even when he tried so hard to hide. It’s like she had a sixth sense that always helped her locate him.

“Hairy can barely keep up with her. Being blind has nothing on her. This girl is feisty. She’s always giving Hairy a run for his money, but we know he loves it. He’s equally as playful and fun-loving.”

While the kittens grew closer, Baymax continued to enjoy the love and attention from her foster family, charming them with her gentle personality and soft purrs.

Baymax has happily retired from motherhood and now follows her humans around the house like a shadow. She loves napping on the couch and rolling on the floor, waiting for cuddles.

Even though she’s toothless now, she loves being able to eat without any pain. Baymax did a great job raising Hairy, and now he and Polka Dot were ready for a new chapter in life. Luckily they were adopted together!

Hairy is full of energy and always getting into mischief, with Polka Dot right by his side in all their shenanigans. They love their new home, but what they cherish most is staying together.

As for Baymax, she has found her fur-ever home with a family that loves her and is ready to provide her with all the care and attention.

“Her new name is Opal. She enjoys living as an only cat and having her family’s full attention.”

I think her new name suits her more than perfectly, she’s as special as the Opal stone! I hope you enjoyed this heartwarming story as much as I did. Feel free to share it with your friends.
