Newly Adopted Cat Saves Elderly Dad’s Life After A Fall From The Shower

An elderly man has dubbed his cat his “hero” after he fell in the shower and his beloved feline got help on the way!

Eighty-four-year-old Ron Williams slipped getting out of the shower in his Sturgis, South Dakota, home. He wears a Life Alert, but it was on the charger and far out of reach. His cell phone was on the bathroom counter, but Ron had no way of reaching it as he was stuck on the floor. But hope was also in the room with Ron, and that hope was known by the name of Fluffy the cat.

A Fluffy Savior

The tale first came to light in the Sturgis Journal and soon caught the attention of Fox 17 WXMI correspondent Doug Reardon, who spoke with Ron about the harrowing experience and the rescue that came via furry paws.

“I relive it a million times,” explained cat dad Ron. “If he wouldn’t have been in there with me, I’d be dead today.”

After Ron fell from the shower, he remained on the floor for nearly sixteen hours. From eight in the morning to midnight, Ron lay in pain with an arm pinned beneath his body. In that late hour, an idea came to Ron that only Fluffy could pull off.

You see, when Ron would use his phone to order things, he’d say “Ring-a-ding, ring-a-ding” to his little Fluffy kitten.

“I didn’t know he’d pick up on it,” said Ron.

But it’s a good thing this smart kitty was listening.

Fluffy was caught in the closed bathroom with Ron, so Ron thought he’d try something.

“So I say, ‘Fluffy, ring a ding, ring a ding Fluffy,’ and I says “you’re my only hope’ and he was.” Ron shared. “It wasn’t even five minutes later I felt something in my hand.”

That smart cat knocked that phone right where his dad needed it!

“I’m here because of it now, with just a few bumps and bruises.”

A Love That Came Just in Time

Fluffy and Ron came together only a few weeks before the fall when he adopted the little black and white kitty from a friend.

“I looked at him, and hey, I just fell in love with him.”

And that love saved Ron’s life.

“He’ll never be away from me until the day I die,” said the proud and thankful cat dad.

Since his fall, Ron has installed a bar in the shower, but Fluffy continues his patrol – just in case!
