Protective Mama Cat Rescued From Kansas Calms Down After Realizing Her Babies Are Safe
Surviving the challenges of street life is never easy for abandoned cats. However, it’s even harder for mother cats trying to protect their precious kittens.
Well, this furry family was very fortunate. They beat the odds thanks to the compassion of some caring individuals.
A group of kind-hearted souls found a feline family in desperate need of help in Wichita, Kansas.
Determined not to leave them to fend for themselves, they swiftly brought the entire family to safety, to a shelter where their new life could begin.
However, the story took an even warmer turn when Heidi Shoemaker, the compassionate soul behind Foster Kitten Mama in Colorado, learned about this mother cat and her kittens.
Heidi immediately stepped in to offer nurturing care and a comfortable place for each member of the feline family.
Initially, the mother cat, who was named Taylor, was very timid and protective of her babies. She was a devoted mother, showering her little ones with an abundance of love and care.
Taylor tried her best to provide for her little ones, but feeding six hungry mouths was no easy feat, and she needed some extra assistance.
Seeing how shy and protective Taylor was, Heidi knew that patience was key to winning her trust. She said:
“She was very timid and tired, but such a sweet girl. She fed her babies all day long.”
Once Taylor realized that she and her babies were in good hands, slowly but surely, she started warming up to Heidi.
She realized that she didn’t have to fend for the family’s safety anymore, and she could finally open up and enjoy her life.
Taylor transformed into a different cat who adored relaxing in a warm nest, and who allowed other people to hold her babies. That was the moment she truly started trusting humans. Heidi said:
“At this age, kittens don’t want to be away from their mama even for a second, but these little ones just gazed at us with the sweetest eyes when we held them.”
As far as the kittens were concerned, they arrived at the shelter with some stomach issues that needed to be treated. Thankfully, they were all saved on time and got the medical care they so desperately needed.
Heidi took special care of Taylor and her babies, ensuring they were well-fed and on their path to recovery. Observing Taylor, Heidi realized something:
“She has been such a good mama, soft, attentive, gentle. She’s never pushy or jumpy, and has an amazing spirit about her.”
Once the rescuers got the chance to know this feline family better, they discovered something amazing – all six kittens were boys, a rarity indeed.
Inspired by this revelation, they decided to name the kittens after members of different boy bands. Meet Donnie Wahlberg, Harry Styles, AJ McLean, Justin Timberlake, and Joe Jonas. Heidi noted:
“These little boys are just perfectly beautiful. They are each so sweet, wide-eyed, and amazing.”
All the boys were super-adorable and unique in their own ways. Justin was always the first one to greet people; Joe had the cutest birthmark next to his nose, and AJ was the only black panther in this feline family.
After conquering their stomach issues, the kittens rapidly put on some weight and gained a lot of energy to zoom around the room.
The young kittens kept growing bigger and stronger while their mother was proudly watching them from a distance. Heidi expressed her admiration:
“Taylor has done such a good job raising these precious boys, and I’m extra excited to see her find a special home to get pampered in.”
After spending several weeks in foster care, this furry feline family was now ready to embark on the next chapter of their lives. Heidi said:
“Taylor is such a good mom to her six boys. I want her to have the best home when she’s done raising her last-ever litter. She will make an excellent companion and would do well with one of her boys.”
In the end, our hearts swell with hope that this remarkable feline family found forever homes where they are cherished, loved, and doted upon, just as they deserve.
