One day, an unexpected discovery unfolded that would change the lives of four tiny, fragile souls. 

What began as a seemingly ordinary day took a heartwarming turn when a kind-hearted individual noticed a mysterious black bin bag moving.

Curiosity and compassion compelled this guardian angel to investigate further. What they found inside was nothing short of a miracle – four precious kittens, only ten days old, nestled within the bag. 

Without hesitation, the person scooped up the newborns and rushed them to the Mayhew community, a lifeline that would prove to be their salvation.

These kittens were so young that their survival depended on immediate care, and thanks to Mayhew’s dedicated vet team, they received the nurturing they desperately needed.

The quartet, affectionately named Tiny, Teenie, Titch, and Smalls, underwent thorough check-ups and were provided with a cozy, secure haven designed to make them feel cherished and comfortable.

After ensuring the kittens’ safety and well-being, Paul Grimes, Mayhew’s Animal Welfare Officer, expressed the gravity of the situation: 

“We can’t imagine how terrifying it must have been for these 10-day-old kittens to be abandoned in a bin bag. It’s worrying to think what would have happened to the kittens if they hadn’t been found so quickly.”

As orphaned kittens, Tiny, Teenie, Titch, and Smalls required round-the-clock care and vigilant guardianship. Fortunately, two dedicated foster carers eagerly stepped up to provide this essential support. 

These caregivers offered the kittens a structured routine and unwavering attention, nurturing the hope that they would one day flourish into contented adult cats.

Despite their safety, Mayhew’s Cat Welfare Coordinator, Georgina Disney, voiced her concerns about such distressingly frequent cases: 

“This is such a difficult and time-consuming job which involves a lot of close monitoring and specialist care, that’s why it can be dangerous for anyone to try and do it themselves, so we recommend always coming to us first. We recommend seeking a vet’s advice or call us for advice as in the hands of an inexperienced person, it could be life threatening for the kittens.”

Nevertheless, Disney expressed profound gratitude for the experienced foster carers who stepped forward. It was clear that Teenie, Titch, Tiny, and Smalls were in capable hands.

Currently, the kittens remain in their tender infancy, with the primary goal of ensuring their health and happiness. 

When the time is right, they will receive vaccinations and undergo neutering, bringing them one step closer to finding their forever homes.
