Meet the Spectacular 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback “Copperback” ( video )

Ringbrothers 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback 5-Speed

This 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback, affectionately nicknamed “Copperback,” underwent an extraordinary transformation under the skilled hands of Ringbrothers in Spring Green, Wisconsin. It later found its way to a new owner through a BaT auction in August 2020. Boasting a striking Copper Burnt Orange Metallic exterior, this magnificent vehicle showcases a range of unique modifications, including carbon fiber panels, ground effects, and billet accents. Inside, a custom brown and black leather interior further enhances the allure of this exceptional Mustang. Now, this Ringbrothers masterpiece is available for sale on dealer consignment with a clean California title, and there is no reserve price.

A Dazzling Exterior

During the initial project in 2007, the car underwent a meticulous disassembly and media blasting process before the true magic began. The body received several distinctive customizations, such as shaved drip rails and door handles, as well as a raised dorsal line that runs the length of the car. The skilled craftsmen at Gemini Technology Systems fabricated custom carbon fiber hood and trunk panels, while also providing molds for the lower valence. The lower side scoops were reshaped with a deeper profile, and the bumpers were shortened, giving the car an even more aggressive stance. Additionally, custom steel ground effects panels were seamlessly integrated into the design. To further enhance the exterior, the concave taillight panel was replaced with a flat panel overlaid with carbon fiber, and exhaust exits were skillfully added.

Exquisite Finish and Attention to Detail

The dazzling Copper Burnt Orange Metallic finish, expertly applied by Glasurit, highlights the car’s sleek lines. Dark gray accents grace the hood, air dam, side skirts, and rear spoiler, creating an eye-catching contrast. Tinted glass was installed during the build, and the trim around the windshield, rear glass, and side vents was elegantly blacked out. The inclusion of machined billet aluminum accents adds a touch of sophistication to the exterior. Notable features include the hood and cowl vents, sail panel vent inserts, teardrop hood pin bezels, front brake ducts, black billet gas cap, side grille air intakes, and taillight surrounds.

Exceptional Performance and Handling

The “Copperback” Mustang sits on striking three-piece 19″ iForged wheels, featuring black centers and polished barrels, which are complemented by Michelin Pilot Sport tires measuring 255/30 up front and 305/30 at the rear. The suspension system is a testament to engineering excellence, with a Chris Alston’s Chassisworks Total Control front setup and rear-mounted steering. A triangulated four-link rear unit and subframe connectors provide enhanced stability and control. To accommodate the wider wheels, the side and rear floor panels were replaced with lightweight aluminum, and the rear was mini-tubbed. The braking system is comprised of Baer 6S monoblock calipers with ceramic brake pads, paired with two-piece slotted and drilled rotors.

Impeccable Interior Craftsmanship

Step inside the “Copperback,” and you’ll find a meticulously re-trimmed interior by Steve Pearson of Upholstery Unlimited. Custom-molded bucket seats, covered in luxurious brown and black leather, provide both comfort and style. The seats are equipped with Schroth four-point harnesses for added safety during spirited drives. The two-tone leather extends to the dash, door panels, and Momo steering wheel, exuding elegance and refinement. Leather-wrapped roll hoops, side trim, and custom-patterned carpeting adorn the rear deck, while soft black upholstery graces the headliner, sun visors, and pillars. Custom carbon fiber and aluminum accents are thoughtfully positioned throughout the cabin, adding a touch of modernity. The interior also boasts several additional features, including an aluminum shift lever with a custom knob, Ford GT toggle switches on the console, push-button starting, power windows, a tilt steering column, Momo pedals, and under-dash door release levers. The custom surround-sound system, consisting of a Kenwood receiver and Rockford Fosgate acoustic components, ensures a captivating audio experience.

Unleashing the Power

Under the hood lies the heart of the “Copperback” Mustang—a remarkable Roush Performance 427ci V8 engine. This powerhouse features a Dart Iron Eagle block and aluminum cylinder heads, combined with an electronic fuel injection system boasting individual throttle bodies. The engine’s roar is channeled through ceramic-coated Magnaflow exhaust headers, leading to a heat shield-wrapped 3″ exhaust system with SpinTech mufflers. To ensure optimal cooling, a custom aluminum radiator and an electric fan are employed. The starter motor was recently replaced in 2023, adding to the car’s reliability.

Unmatched Performance on the Road

Power from the Roush Performance V8 is transferred to the rear wheels through a Tremec five-speed manual transmission, offering precise and engaging shifts. The car is equipped with a Currie 9-inch rear axle featuring a limited-slip differential and 3.55:1 gears, further enhancing its exceptional performance.
