572-Powered 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad


This 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad was acquired by the seller’s father in 2011 and subsequently modified and refurbished, which included refinishing the exterior in black and installing replacement bumpers and trim. The car is powered by a 572ci Chevrolet linked with a 4L80 four-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential in a narrowed rear end, and it rides on a custom chassis with a coilover suspension, tubular control arms, and power steering. Five-spoke Budnik 17″ wheels are mounted over Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes, and the rear wheels wear Mickey Thompson tires that measure 18.5″ wide. The interior was fitted with replacement upholstery and front bucket seats trimmed in tan leather along with power windows, Vintage Air climate control, a B&M shifter, Classic Instruments gauges, and an Eclipse head unit mounted on a custom center console. This modified Nomad is offered by the seller on behalf of the owner’s estate with a clean Texas title.

The exterior was refinished in black and fitted with replacement bumpers, bodyside moldings, and trim during the refurbishment. Additional touches include a drop-down cargo door, a fuel filler concealed above the left taillight, and hooded headlights with aftermarket light fixtures.

Five-spoke 17″ Budnik wheels are mounted with Fuzion ZR1 tires up front and 31×18.5″ Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro rubber out back. The car rides on a custom chassis with coilover suspension, tubular control arms, and power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering. Braking is provided by Wilwood four-wheel discs.

The cabin was fitted with sound-deadening material and the headliner, dashboard trim, door panels, and rear panels were replaced during the build. The replacement front bucket seats are trimmed in tan leather. The rear seats were removed and the floors were modified to accommodate the oversized rear axle housing, and brown carpets with tan piping line the floors. Further details include Vintage Air climate control, a custom center console, power windows, a B&M shifter, and an Eclipse head unit with navigation.

The aftermarket steering wheel sits ahead of a Classic Instruments 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and supplementary readouts. The five-digit odometer shows 320 miles.

The 572ci Chevrolet V8 was installed in 2016 and is equipped with a high-rise intake manifold, a high-performance camshaft, an oil cooler, and various polished and chrome-plated underhood components. An aluminum radiator and electric fans provide cooling. The mufflers were replaced in January 2018, and a replacement fuel pump was installed and the carburetor was cleaned in October 2023, according to the seller.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4L80 four-speed automatic transmission with a high-performance torque converter and a modified flex plate fastened with ARP hardware, and the narrowed rear axle is fitted with a limited-slip differential. The rear axle was re-sealed in April 2018. Long-tube headers feed a side-outlet exhaust system with finishers ahead of each rear wheel.
