Witness the Mayhem of a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Roaring on Custom Foose Wheels

The Chevrolet Chevelle is one of the many cars born in the glory years of American carmaking.

It was first introduced in 1963 as a mid-sized car and developed into one of the most popular Chevy models of those times, but it didn’t stop the 1977 ax from falling over its head.

The Chevelle has gradually developed into a darling of the custom industry thanks to its iconic design lines, and the conversions that have come as a result throughout the years have delighted aficionados for decades.

One of the Chevelle-based builds that have just come back into the spotlight is the 1966 one that has come to be known as Mayhem. Finished a few years back as a frame-off restoration, it is now ready to go under the hammer during a Mecum auction in May, complete with all the extras added during the process.

The car retains much of its original traits, but has grown into a a different kind of monster thanks to the extra, modern hardware added.

When combined with the chrome on the bumpers and the unique 18-inch Foose wheels with low-profile tires, the House of Kolor Brandywine paint that covers the body looks great.

A closer inspection may be required to see the rest of the alterations, which include the carbon fiber trim, unique grille, hood and trunk lid, and shaved drip rails.

Riding low to the ground thanks to the use of an air suspension, the Chevelle is propelled by a LS1 V8 engine of undisclosed output, linked to a 6-speed transmission.

The engine sits in a carefully crafted bay that features billet, chrome and stainless elements. Inside there are bucket seats and a stereo system with a 12-inch subwoofer.
