One-of-a-kind muscle car project! What’s the compelling story behind the quest for this 8-door Plymouth warehouse?

Here’s another barn find, coming to you from YouTube channel Adventures Made From Scratch, but this classic car is a little different from the rest. Not because of its condition, which is typical given its recent history: sitting outside in the worst the elements have to offer, and 20 years off the road.

But its aesthetic is what makes it special, for this is an 8-door station wagon, and with 4 rows of seats it is (or was) immensely-more practical than your standard limo.

See the entire video to see the host go off on interesting tangents including mushroom hunting, and there are more satisfying surprises in store when it comes to flattening cars with a crusher.

The Plymouth Suburban 8-Door Station Wagon

After updating regular viewers of his channel on the latest developments, which include receiving more junk metal to get crushed, the YouTuber goes off in search of the abandoned classic car.

It turns out to be an 8-door Suburban station wagon, and the good news is that it is complete, although its condition requires a complete restoration and substantial repair.

As with most barn finds, this Plymouth is rusty, although its panels are mostly intact, and the all-important rows of seats inside are there. A door for each passenger in a group vehicle like this is an intriguing idea, and large families would surely love to see it reappear on certain vehicles as an option. Either way, a muscle car restoration build with performance parts in such a car would turn heads on the drag strip.

Luckily, it’s also got a 7.2-liter V8 under the hood, although it may well need a whole new engine at this point.

Can You Use A Limousine As A Drag Racer?

Plymouth did make a Suburban which was later the station wagon version of the overall Fury line, and Chevrolet also made a Suburban of their own. Cars like this 8-door are rare, though they were more common decades ago, where ‘airport cars’ like this provided practical transport for up to 12 people
Not intended as a luxurious limousine, this would have been a practical people-mover, and was an innovative solution to the problem of multiple areas of ingress/egress before sliding doors on a van became the go-to system.
This car is for sale, although it will soon go to the crusher if it sits around too long. It could become a drag racer, but the chassis and floor might need work, and due to the length of the car it’s likely that handling isn’t its strong point. The 7.2-liter V8 would have made up to around 350 hp. An interesting curio nonetheless and one that may find itself on the wrong side of a crusher.
