We shared the story with you earlier about the upcoming auction for Lambrecht Chevrolet, and the liquidation of some 400 classic Chevrolets. These cars had been stored away, and now that the Lambrechts are fully retired at over 90 years of age, they are liquidating the dealership of all the classic cars, vintage hot rod parts, new old stock parts and all of their old signs and tools, too.
The parts counter, just as it was left when the business closed down.
The auction is to be held September 28-29, 2013, in Pierce, Nebraska, with previews being held on September 27th. But, as mentioned in the video you don’t need to be in Nebraska to participate, you can register online at VanDerBrink Auctions, and you can place your bids by proxy.
As they tell us in the videos, the cars are all in various stages of condition, some great, some not so much. But think about it, when was the last time you saw an auction like this come along, where many of the cars are from the 1950-60s – and they’re almost all new? Some of these cars have more miles pushing them out the door than they do on the odometer!
So if you want to get in on the action, get over to their web site and register, and get ready to drool over all of these vehicles. One of the first vehicles they took out of the dealership was a 1958 Cameo pickup, and upon rolling it outside for the first time in decades they showed the interior. Not only was the original protective plastic on the seats, and the original rubber floormats in the back, but the odometer showed an incredible 1.3 miles!

It’s an amazing collection, but now you get to see it here… with many of the cars out in a field so you can actually see what they look like in the daylight. How about a ’64 Impala with a 327 3-speed with the original interior, window sticker, and just 4.4 miles on it?
Looking at the group of cars being pulled out into the daylight for the first time in decades, it’s almost enough to make you want to pack up and take a trip just to see these cars in person. It’s like traveling back in time, a time when many of us can remember what it was like to pull the plastic off a new car’s seat and to put our feet down on the rubber mats that came with them.
Many of these cars didn’t have air conditioning, power windows, or even power steering. They’re the kind of cars that our parents, or grandparents used to drive. Drum brakes, 14 inch steel wheels with hubcaps. Vent windows – now how many kids today know what a vent window is? A kid the other day called it the “triangle” window because most of the cars he sees doesn’t have one. Ahhh, those were the days. When the radio only played old songs and not some hip-hop version of a classic that we used to make out to.
There’s only about 400 of these cars to be auctioned off, so chances are that you could end up with something worthwhile even if you are one of the last holdouts to bid. So who’s going to hit up this auction and try to capture a rare piece of Americana and take home a brand new classic car from the last century?
