A litter of 4 kittens was found one unusually cold night in Williamson County, Texas. Needless to say, these poor souls were frozen solid.

On top of that, they were abandoned by their mama cat. The person who found these babies immediately rushed them to the Williamson Regional Animal Shelter

The shelter workers did their best to warm these fuzzballs up, but they knew the kittens needed a warm and loving foster home.

The shelter informed Megyn, better known as KittenKonnoisseur, about the situation. They immediately rushed to pick up the kittens and bring them home.

Once Megyn came home, they noticed the little ones had scabs all over their tiny faces and one of them had rear paralysis, as they shared in an Instagram post:

“Each had dried blood on their heads. One had rear paralysis. One already had breathing issues. All were emaciated and weak. Once home, I worked to make sure they were as stable as possible.”

Considering all of the above, they wanted to get food in their system as soon as possible. However, the little ones were not latching onto the bottles.

Megyn knew tube feeding was the only option. Unfortunately, by the time they went to bring the tube feeder the kitten with rear paralysis lost the fight. Shortly after, his sister followed him. Megyn was completely heartbroken, as they recall:

“His sister was also in severe respiratory distress, and despite all interventions, she was too far gone and passed in my hands. Within an hour I went from hopeful to heartbroken.”

Megyn knew they had to fight twice as hard for the remaining two brothers. They named them Lenny and Carl and from that day on they spent every minute caring for these babies.

The 2-week-old fuzzballs were tube-fed for a couple of days until finally, they started latching onto the bottle! Megyn shared this super proud moment in an Instagram update:

“I didn’t think this guy would make it through the first night, so to see him thriving now is a huge sigh of relief. Keep up the good chonky work, Carl!”

Carl had a healthy appetite and he quickly outweighed his brother. However, Lenny was still keeping up. They also shared an update on Lenny where you can see his healthy chubby tummy!

It didn’t take these two long before they passed the critical phase, which was only possible thanks to Megyn’s love and care.

Carl and Lenny were ready to explore the world around them and become active happy kittens! They spent their time playing with each other and with their foster siblings.

However, every foster parent knows the bittersweet feeling of letting their foster babies go to forever homes. As Megyn shared in a post:

“The boys have a meet and greet this weekend and get neutered next Thursday. It’s hard to believe the boys are all grown up already.”

Surely, it didn’t take long before these furballs found their forever home. Megyn made sure to update their followers:

“Lenny + Carl are officially off to their forever home together where they are getting the best life with loads of human and animal pals to cuddle.”

From being frozen solid and losing their siblings, to becoming playful happy kittens, this story really made my heart warm.

If you encounter abandoned kittens make sure to immediately inform your local shelter. Getting these fuzzballs in a safe space is extremely important!
