All About Taylor Swift’s Cats: Meet Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson and Benjamin Button
Oh, Taylor Swift, the music icon that’s got everyone talking!
Seriously, if you haven’t heard of this pop superstar, you might just be living under a rock, especially after her show-stopping Eras Tour. It’s been all over billboards, TV, newspapers, and social media – totally unavoidable!
However, did you know that this chart-topping singer is also a passionate cat enthusiast?
That’s right! In addition to gracing us with her incredible talent and captivating performances during the Eras tour, Taylor is also the proud cat mom to three adorable fur babies, all named after her favorite TV and movie characters.
And those kitties aren’t just her pets; they’re practically celebrities themselves!
In today’s article, we’re going to meet all three of Taylor’s furry companions. So, let’s dive in and get to know Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button!
Meredith Grey, The Shy One
This adorable gray Scottish Fold is Taylor’s first pet and has been with her through thick and thin. She was named after the famous Meredith from Grey’s Anatomy, a character Taylor very much enjoys.
Since entering Taylor’s life, Meredith has been featured in many of her social media posts. She even appeared on Ryan Reynold’s T-shirt in the movie Deadpool 2, and in Taylor’s music video for ME! alongside her sister Olivia.
Though she’s had her fair share of internet fame, Meredith is known as the more reserved of Taylor’s cats. She tends to shy away from the camera and apparently hates having her pictures taken.
With that being said, she’s still awesome and Taylor’s true love. As her mom puts it:
“She’s, like, the most adorable cat in the world.”
And I couldn’t agree more! Mer is truly a beautiful cat, and her timid nature just adds to her charm.
Olivia Benson, The Richest One
Olivia, a white Scottish Fold, is not just any cat – she’s reportedly one of the richest celebrity pets out there, with a net worth of $97 million!
Although named after a great female protagonist from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Taylor prefers to address her by her nickname, Dibbles. As she says:
“Her name is Detective Olivia Benson. But her name in the house is Dibbles because it suits her personality more than Olivia. She’s like a scrappy little cat.”
Olivia is a true feline star. As I already mentioned, she’s made appearances in Deadpool 2, Taylor’s ME! music video, as well as various ad campaigns.
This rising star was featured in an excerpt from an AT&T ad campaign with Taylor and also joined her mom in a Diet Coke ad.
With her brother Benjamin by her side, she supported Taylor at the Billboard Music Awards, where she had the opportunity to meet Paula Abdul. They all took a picture together after which Paula admitted she’s actually allergic to cats!
All in all, I think we can all agree that Olivia is living the high life. Don’t know about you, but I’d love to meet her!
Benjamin Button, The Lone Gent
Rounding out the trio is Benjamin Button, the lone male cat in the Swift household.
The inspiration for his name came from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, one of Taylor’s favorite movies.
Taylor met her Ragdoll fluff on the set of the music video for her song ME! and it was love at first sight.
She knew right then he was coming home with her. As she said:
“He was just a cute kitten who didn’t have a home. He was part of a program that tries to get cute kittens adopted by putting them in commercials and stuff. The handler handed me this tiny cat and he just starts purring and he looks at me like, ‘You’re my mom, and we’re going to live together.’ I fell in love. I looked at Brendon and he’s like, ‘You’re going to get the cat, aren’t you?”
A couple of days after, she introduced her new furbaby by posting an adorable picture on her Instagram profile, captioning it, “And then there were three…”
Although no one can top Olivia, Benji is also fairly famous. He regularly appears on Taylor’s social media platforms and supports her in all her work.
However, his biggest achievement is by far joining his mom on the cover of TIME magazine as the Person of the Year.
So there you have it – a glimpse into the lives of Taylor Swift’s beloved furbabies. I hope you enjoyed learning about Meredith, Olivia, and Benjamin.
