Stray Cat With A Bent Ear Rescued Just In Time For A Big Furry Surprise
Stray cats carry many scars from the harsh street life they’ve been living. Those scars make them unique in a way, just like Freya, the cat from today’s story.
Freya, an adorable black cat, grew up in the busy streets of Las Vegas and never knew what it’s like to have a home.
With her right ear bent backward and her gorgeous big eyes, Freya quickly became the favorite stray cat in one of Las Vegas’s neighborhoods. Kind people used to feed her and cuddle her, but sadly no one was able to provide her with a forever home.
However, one woman noticed that Freya’s belly was getting bigger every day. She realized kittens were on their way and the kind woman couldn’t bear the thought of Freya giving birth on the streets.
The woman reached out to their local shelter, Homeward Bound Cat Adoption. The amazing staff immediately informed one of their foster volunteer about Freya and she was more than happy to help.
Ellen Richter fostered cats and kittens for as long as she can remember so Freya was off to the best foster home ever. Although she had a sweet personality, Freya was afraid at first. As Ellen shared on Instagram:
“She’s nervous and unsure of what’s going on. I’m letting her relax and get comfortable with me. It will be any day now that she gives birth. I’m so thankful she has a safe place to be.”
Freya spent her first night in the bathroom sink before she finally found the courage to come out and explore her new home. She immediately asked Ellen for some cuddles and then ventured off around the house.
The next morning Ellen woke up to a huge surprise! While everyone was sleeping, mama cat Freya had six kittens in total!
Ellen was shocked that she did it all by herself, but Freya did an amazing job. As Ellen shared in a post:
“Mama gave birth this morning to 6 little angels. she’s an amazing mom and knew exactly what to do.”
The adorable bunch spent the first week cuddling with their mom, while Ellen made sure they had everything they needed. She made a cozy and warm spot for Freya and the furry family was thriving, as Ellen said in an update:
“Mama Freya is still making air biscuits. Kittens are starting to crawl, mama is a bit anxious with all that movement.”
Freya and her kittens will stay with Ellen under her loving care until it’s time for them to go off to their forever homes!
I’m so grateful for the kind woman who made sure Freya gets the best care possible. If you want to keep up with the adorable furry family, make sure to follow Ellen over on Instagram!
