Unleashing Thunder: The 440-Powered 1974 Dodge Challenger 4-Speed’s Soaring Dominance


The 1974 Dodge Challenger coupe available here has undergone a repaint, featuring an orange exterior with a black hood, rear spoiler, and T/A-style side stripes. The source of power is a 440ci V8 engine, which was installed during a prior ownership period.

Notable additions comprise chrome 15″ REV wheels, a 1970-style grille and taillights, front disc brakes, an aluminum radiator, a four-speed manual transmission, a Hurst pistol-grip shifter, a Sunpro tachometer, and a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo system. The current seller took possession of the vehicle in early 2022, and a carburetor with an automatic choke has been introduced since. This customized Challenger comes with a car cover and holds a clean Pennsylvania title registered under the seller’s name.

The vehicle underwent an orange repaint during its earlier ownership, complemented by a black hood featuring a scoop, along with a rear spoiler and T/A-style side stripes. The vehicle is equipped with chrome-finished 15″ REV alloy wheels, which are adorned with Cooper Cobra Radial G/T tires sized 215/60 in the front and 235/60 in the rear. These tires bear date codes from the year 2008. Braking capability is delivered through power-assisted front disc brakes and rear drum brakes.

The front bucket seats and rear bench are upholstered in black vinyl, and woodgrain trim accents the door panels. Amenities include a Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo, a wood-trimmed Hurst pistol-grip shifter, front shoulder belts, and Challenger-branded carpeted floor mats.

The two-spoke steering wheel frames a column-mounted Sunpro 8k-rpm tachometer as well as a 120-mph speedometer and supplementary gauges. The current seller mentions the installation of a carburetor with an automatic choke during their ownership, along with a fluid change in early 2023. It’s worth noting that the car originally left the factory with a 318ci V8 engine under its hood.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car is equipped with a dual exhaust system. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.
